Question
An occassional thread dedicated to the survival tactics of Ebay sellers, who appear to have had auctions closed unnecessarily, or their businesses interfered with, and their public reactions or methods of protection being applied to their auctions.

First up:
This auction for '37 PATTERN AUSSIE WW2 STYLE GAITERS (14 PAIR).
WARNING: These gaiters will not fire any bullet or discharge any type of Ordnance and they will not destroy anything or EXPLODE if a match is put to them. They may hurt your little toe if you drop the bundle on them and so I recommend steel capped foherere when taking them out of your letterbox. The Australian Government does not want them anymore and they have not wanted them for at least 50 years.....THAT IS WHY THE GOVERNMENT SOLD THEM AS SURPLUS YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are not used by the modern army and most modern soldiers would not wear them - even if you gave them some for free.
I state these facts as they have been listed before and some fool decided that they should be taken off ebay as they could be dangerous or that they once belonged to the Government. They obviously don't take a great deal of notice what is listed on ebay every day.....otherwise every bit of militaria would be taken off ebay.

I think eBay is getting there. Hi Kevin. Did you see this article?
http://www.leedstoday.net/ViewArticl...ticleID=904202 eBay bans sale of bullet-makers
Since miniature gun replica lighters are banned because...well...they could hurt you shouldn't eBay also ban the sale of those pesky lighter wicks and the wick makers?
Blanche
Answer
G'day Blanche,
Personally I never opposed the banning of firearms from Ebay, and the bullet maker ban is, to me, an extension of the same policy - but then I never accepted weapons for my live auctions from a personal moral stance. I realise that some view this as an infringement of rights, but I really think there *should* be a screening process for buyers of those types of items (and I am not referring to general militaria memorabilia).
shouldn't eBay also ban the sale of those pesky lighter wicks and the wick makers?
Well...... they have already banned the ones that are "snow white".
Cheers, Kevin
Answer
I pinched my finger in a can opener last week....ALL can openers are dangerous and should be banned
I stubbed my toe on a box of paper items to be listed on ebay, should they be banned also, it really, really hurt.

Ahmen...still piss's me off....
Answer
I got a paper cut the other day that hurt like a SOB so all paper products, including books, should be banned

Description:

Thanks. Now lets see now we go this time

Hmmm, Gaiters and bayonets - it would appear that someone is patrolling the Australian site with an anti military stance.....
Kevin (who thankfully hasn't had any auctions cancelled this year, and has been listing and describing trade catalogues again)
Answer
How about kitchen knives????
I can think of lots of things that can hurt.
You can't even sell BB guns but can sell paint guns
I sold a sword from the Civil War that was used to kill people.

This is my third attempt at listing this super rare title. On my first attempt I mentioned the adult content and Ebay shut it down saying it belonged in the adult catagory. Well searching the mature audiences catagory requires special links that hard as heck to find, so I decided to relist it in the regular catagory and leave off any adult references. On the second attempt at listing the record company had Ebay shut it down, maybe they thought it was a copy, they were wrong. I challenged the ruling and WON an extremely rare Ebay reversal and thus I am now listing it for the third time. This is a european ld release so make sure your player before bidding. Call me if you have any questions 800-524-9150.
The lovesexy concert tour from 1988 may be Prince's shining moment live. This coming from a fan who has travelled across the country for over 15 years and has witnessed over 100 Prince concerts. Truly a gem!!
We are including another title from the opposite end of the music spectrum: Disney Sing Along with Brother Bear DVD with this auction.
Here is a copy of the super rare Ebay Reversal on cancelling this listing. This is almost as rare as the Prince title itself:
Hello Chris,

to the site, where it now appears as a competed item.
To restart the listing, all you have to do is:
1. sign in to eBay,
2. search for the item, and
3. click on the "relist this item" link (located near the top of the

"You recently had placed a bid on item number(s):

which had been removed by eBay as a result of a Notice of Claimed
Infringement from a Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program participant. As
we stated previously, if you were the winning bidder, you are not
obligated to complete that transaction. However, as a result of the
seller certifying that the listing is non-infringing, eBay has allowed
the seller to relist the item. Please feel free to bid on this relisted

I bolded the way that he backed up how rare this Disc really is.
I was also amused by the adding of a Disney DVD to give some family content to the auction.
