Question
OK - I've had it with paypal and it's 'rules' any suggestions?
Answer
checks or money orders
Answer
As I see it, sales on eBay are dependent on making it as seamless as possible for the buyer, and so there is no real "alternative" to Paypal that will yield the same rate of sales and bids.
The way I figure it, people do what is familar and easy. So if you are selling a DVD of Harry Potter that someone wants, if it is priced right and easy to complete the deal, they will hit "buy". If you start to make it complicated, like only checks and money orders or only Bidpay, no Paypal, the person who has money in their account waiting to be spent will pass on your DVD and buy someone elses.
Same holds true with the person who only takes Paypal, and refuses checks or money orders. They will lose some sales, too.
So for the commodity items, it is best to be flexible and familiar.
HOWEVER, when we come to rare items, true collectibles, etc., where they are rare and hard to find, buyers often WILL go through hoops to get these special items at a good price and everything I have said above does not apply.
Finally, having your own credit card processing capability is a choice many sellers make, especially big corporate ones with their own checkout systems. But they too lose sales if it is unfamiliar or too complicated for the buyers, and more and more of them are actualy includng Paypal as a payment option.
Bottom line for me is that I am simply stuck with Paypal and will continue to use it since it is the most popular payment option on eBay. To do otherwise would be the same as refusing sales for me as I do sell mostly commodities.

Answer
Furthermore, the checks issued by collectors are much more likely to be good than those issued by ordinary merchandise buyers. The collectors are eager to get the item, and want to make sure the transaction goes smoothly. They are also more likely to be better educated, more affluent, and more experienced in business dealings.
Answer
All other things being equal, I'll pay a bit more for an item if the seller takes PayPal. I don't like having to mail my payment and then wait and wait and wait for the item to arrive.
It's that "instant gratification" thing. I like to bid, win, pay, done! ... all in a few clicks!
Answer
stormpay does hold promise and if used in conjunction with paypal could be useful on its own i am not sure it is that useful

Not really, but you should probably read this before you do anything.
Answer
Since before there was a paypal and since they hacked into my account, I have never had trouble with checks and money orders.
A few even send cash on small amounts tho I never recommend that in my ads.
Soon Bidpay will be back and I did have a few use that. NOBODY wanted to use the Western Union Auction payments probably because they thought it was the other kind of WU payment.
