Question
I just got a 'Ask the seller a question' email from EBay. Call me silly, but this sounds real fishy. Who would pay a seller $150 to wrap and package an item that costs less than $5.00??? Oh, I know, maybe this vase is really worth thousands!!???
Dear chazlotech,
Hi, my good friends are having a wedding in few days and I'd like to make a surprise for them. I'd like it to be your vase in a gift wrap with a card inside for a bride. Also I'd like to send $700 via Western Union to them as an additional part of my present 'cause they are going to take a travel during the honey month. I want to make them surprised and doesn't want them to know the present is from me. I am looking for a seller who could help me with that. I will pay for your vase, packaging, express shipping and WU fees of course. They live in Ukraine, not in the USA. Please let me know if you could help me with my present. I want you to ship everything to them directly and to send the money present via WU either. I could even pay for your time and assistance let's say $150 - I think it should be enough. For quick replies from my palm please respond from your email address directly - not through ebay. Thanks for your replay. __
Thank you,
schorfhaar
Answer
Yes, I'd say a definite scam. They could just as easily send the $ themselves.
Answer
chazlotech - I got the exact same one last week. Subsitute "necklace & earring set" for "vase" and the rest is identical. Wedding gift, $150 for my trouble, reply to the Palm. Everything.

Was it from the same EBay user ID, schorfhaar?? I reported it to EBay. The user does exist, but hasn't had any activity in a long time.

Sorry, I don't remember. I read it through a couple times, decided it was a scam, and then deleted it.
Answer
It's a well known Nigerian scam.
