Question
Way back in the beginning of user names (nicknames) I was not interested. I still use my real eMail address (tooner*harbornet.com) for my user name.
Someone else took Tooner as a user name and started to get my feedback. Including a neg. He has not used that account in many years and it has a dead eMail address. Is there some way I can have eBay kill that account, so I can jump the moniker?
I have emailed the user and all eMail gets returned...

Tell ebay that the contact info is bad. Ebay will check the information, if in fact it is out of date, the user will become a nonregistered user.
I think I read after a certain amount of time, it will become available.

Thanks y'all.... I turned him in as a dead eMail and now I will keep an eye open and an ear to the ground for the account to be narued. It's kind of funny because he only has 5 or 6 feedbacks and I believe there were all mine...Back before the transaction related rule..

I believe I read somewhere years ago (Rob?) that once an ID has gone "kapoot" that it's somethink like a year before it can be used again. Search doesn't bring up the thread anymore. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_frown.gif

I waited 30 days after the tooner name was narued for having an invalid eMail address. I couldn't get the name so today I eMailed support at eBay and this is the reply..Seems like a hose job to me. The tooner account has been inactive for many years and has an invalid eMail address But they will hold the name for him FOREVER?!

The only way you can use the name is if the member asks for the account
to be closed. As long as the account is suspended, the member has the
rights to the User ID.
