Question
I won some free passes this weekend, and, not having any use for them, I put them up on Ebay. They actually have one bid!
Anyway, just now I opened my email, and there was a message from the "management" of this place (it's a privately owned natural feature) saying that if they saw the numbers on these tickets they would refuse admittance to the bearers. I didn't put ticket numbers in my auction. And I didn't put a photo of the tickets in the auction either.
My question is, has anyone else run into this problem before? Is it really a problem? Is it illegal to sell tickets that one legitimately owns but has no use for?

The laws on ticket resales & scalping vary from state to state. There's a list of the regulated states (as well as eBay's policies) on eBay. It should give you some general guidance.

click on the "Is my item allowed on eBay? Prohibited, Questionable & Infringing Items" link & select "event tickets" from the list.
There will be a box with eBay's guidelines for each state.

Thanks for that link, Newschick. My state is not on that list. The other point is that I checked these tickets specifically to see if there was a transferability restriction printed on the tickets, and there is no such restriction.

How would they know then if they do not know the numbers??
Some just like to "control" everything.

Lanetz, that's precisely what I'm thinking. However, it is possible that they have sent a message to my bidder, so I'm a bit worried that the bidder will get nervous and back out. I guess I will deal with it if it comes to that.
