Does Ebay uk have different catagories than U.S.

Question
Does Ebay uk have different catagories than U.S.
I have listed some Sylvanian. The highest dollar returns have been in this catagory. Dolls & Bears > Dolls > Modern > Sylvanian > Post-1990
However I can't find that when I create a listing using Vendio, or ebay.
If this normal???

Answer
Yes, it's normal for foreign eBay sites to have some different categories. The category set up depends on the degree of interest by bidders and sellers in the category - and that can vary from country to country.
For example, the postcard category on eBay U.S. includes subcategories by U.S. state. Those subcategories are unlikely to hold as much interest to Europeans as they do to Americans.

Answer
hmm so do all the us listings show up on UK. and vice versa? There are many more of this item sold in the UK. Should I have tried to list it on the UK site or do they see the auctions automatically.

Answer
If your auction is listed on eBay U.S. and you indicate you ship to the U.K., the auction should show up on the U.K. site. However, if the category doesn't exist on the U.K. site, I assume it will show up in a more general category.
However, you can test this very easily. The eBay item number would be the same. So simply copy and paste the item number of any one of your eBay U.S. active auctions into the search box on the U.K. site to see how the auction appears there. At the top of your auction page on the foreign site you'll be able to see what category the auction is listed in. Clicking on the category will give you an idea about the competition and the interest in that type of item.
If you ship world wide, you can test out all the other eBay foreign sites this way. Links to all the eBay sites are listed at the bottom of eBay's home page. Don't worry if you don't understand the language. The search box is usually very obvious on the home page of each site.
If you have an item that you think would appeal to someone browsing a non-English eBay site, and are somewhat familiar with the language and comfortable handling e-mail correspondence in that language, be sure to include a relevant foreign language keyword in your title or auction description as they probably wouldn't think of keying in an English keyword when they do a keyword search.

Answer
http://search.ebay.co.uk/Tomy-Sylvan...osortord erZ1 My auctions do not show up when I search the UK site with the keywords tomy sylvanian.
However if I add the word Calico, so inquire Tomy Sylvanian Calico then they show up. But I don't think someone would search with all three words. The uk site has a catagory for sylvanian and also one for tomy, United STates does not. http://search.ebay.co.uk/Tomy-Sylvan...ypageZs earch
So ebays search is really goofed up, they are in the uk system but don't show up in search with the correct words, and people probably look in the Sylvanian catagory if just searching or tomy
Thanks for your help Irene, I have not ever looked at the other countries sites before. Took me a while to figure out where to look.
