Can I Change eBay Store Name

Question
If I open an eBay store with the first name that pops into my head and later think of a terrific name, can I change the name of the store?
Joan

Answer
Sure you can!

Answer
I changed my store name a couple of weeks ago.
Click on:
Manage Store > Store Builder > Basic Information Edit
Edit out the current store name and key in the new name and save settings.
Please note that this will change the url for your store, although both urls will work for an hour or two. This means that your store will be starting from scratch in Google search.

Answer
You might also check the availability of the URL so that you can use www.YourStoreName.com and protect the name on the Internet.

Answer
A good place to register your domain name for cheap is godaddy.com its 8.95 alot of people pay 35.00 to network solutions and its the same thing.

Answer
Someone else used my Ebay ID as their store name ..guess I have no rights to it huh?

Answer
Tina, I definitely suggest contacting eBay to find out what your rights are in that regard. I am very surprised that someone could use someone else's eBay ID as their store ID. It could lead to all sorts of confusion and also ties your seller reputation with the other seller's reputation.

Answer
Yes, I will. I just discovered it when I was searching for something. She had a couple nice pieces I was interested in. I was shocked to see her store name.
Of course her name has spaces in it, as I was not allowed to do this with my Ebay ID. But same exact name, just hers is spaced out.
She has been a seller longer than I,(both about 6 years-but her by a few months longer) but I definitely had the name before Ebay stores were opened.

Answer
When eBay stores first came out you could get a store name that matched another's user ID... they've changed it so that isn't possible any more.
At the time, I created a 2nd ID on eBay to match my store name to prevent that from happening to me. Now I may open a store on that 2nd ID because I'm outgrowning my current store, so I"ll have to come up with a good name for the 2nd one 8)

Answer
Arrghhh. I am fuming. I just got off the phone with an "ebay rep". As long as the other person has their name not spelled "exactly" like mine, its perfectly okay for them to have the same name. Mine is 3 words, all together. I wasn't allowed spaces when registering the name. Her name is the exact same, but with spaces.
First thing they ask me when I called-"Can I ask how you found Ebay's number?" I found it online, but wasn't about to rat out the site owner, so I told her that I'd had it written down, dont remember where I found it.
After explaining my problem:
me:" But I don't use my name all ran together like that when contacting my customers. My emails have my name spelled just like hers. My return address labels. It is the name of my business! So, she can have the same name as mine, and it's okay with Ebay? Do you really think people pay attention to if the name is spaced apart or not?"
rep: "If you'd like to open a store, you can use underscores or asterisks"
me: "I am not planning on opening a store. I am calling to see if this is okay with Ebay for our feedback to be confused with each other & my repeat customers finding her store & thinking its me wondering why my service is suddenly bad if she turns out to not be a good seller"
rep: "She must have used asterisks or underscores, she can't use just spaces"
me: "NO, she used spaces"
rep:"Let me check because thats not possible"
rep:"Oh your right, she does use spaces"
me:"So let me get this right, I have made Ebay a ton of money over the last 6 years, and I have no rights about this?"
rep:"I'm afraid not"
me:"Isn't it funny how Ebay screws the small sellers more & more as time goes by. The same people who pay for Megs lavish vacations, various homes and whatever else she decides she needs. You'd think with sales being as slow as they are, that the sellers who have stuck it out this long, would be more appreciated. That maybe somebody could be courteous & actually accomodate the seller with something such as this. Why did I actually think otherwise?"
rep:"Is there anything else I can help you with today?"
I won't tell you what I wanted to say...
