Question
To make a long story short...I bought the license for some graphics. The license agreement requires credit each time I offer an item for sale with these graphics.
This is the question I submitted to eBay CS on Oct. 18th...
I recently purchased a license for some graphics to use in the items I make and sell on eBay. I have been told to put this wherever I use the graphics:
"Artwork Copyright © Original XXXXXXXClipart by www.XXXXXXXXX.com".
My question is how can I uphold my agreement with the Licensor and still
be in compliance with eBay's linking policy?
This is the response I received today:
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to write eBay with your concerns. I'm
happy to help you further.
eBay members are not permitted to use images or text from other sellers'
listings without consent. For more information on this subject, please
look at:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/community...nd-images.html
In order to make sure that you are permitted to use the materal in your
listings, please contact the original owner of the graphics to provide
clarification. Once you confirm that the images are permitted for use
from the original owner, please feel free to use them. Please note that
linking directly to the website may not be permitted so please be clear
in your communication with this person.
It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.
Regards,
Claude

Needless to say...I emailed Claude back and told him to READ my original email.

I hate to give eBay CS credit, but it kind of sounds like "Claude" (real name Srinivasan Singh) was trying to answer your question without having to deviate from the boilerplate he's supplied with.
It sounds like you can't use the credit line as supplied by the graphics owner. Seems that would be an issue you'd have to work out with the licensor.

Yeah...in a round-a-bout way, I guess he was answering.
One thing that REALLY got me was the subject of the email:
"Subject: Re: IM62827 Response to your email regarding image or text theft."
Answer
Oh, I feel your rage. After 8 glorious eBay years I think there are millions of people out there who can relate.
The first time you get a non-helpful "helpful" answer from eBay Support, the reaction is puzzlement and perhaps a sense of disbelief that the're really NOT going to help you with this problem that they so obviously should help you with.
The second time confirms that while the person who wrote the CS boilerplate was tasked with making it polite, upbeat and caring, there is no human being on the other end with any intention of actually helping you.
Only the really determined go on for a third attempt.
