I Need to Rant - Neutral Feedback

Question
I can't believe this. I order a book from Half.com (ebay related), the seller cancels the order, I leave positive feedback that the order was cancelled promptly and HE LEAVES ME A NEUTRAL?!? He says "I was out of town too long...cancelled." I was so upset I misspelled my response, which is making me even madder.
I emailed the guy asking him why but I bet I don't hear from him. This is my second neutral in a few months and I've about had it! You just can't please some people.
What would you do? Respond to the positive I left telling what he did? Get his personal info and chew his butt out? Take a long bath? UGH!

Answer
Or go for a walk and chill?
It's a neutral. It doesn't affect your percentage. It says nothing about your character or your purchasing habits.
The guy said nothing negative. He said transaction cancelled. This is the truth. What's there to even leave feedback about? I mean - why did you even leave him feedback? He sold you an item he never delivered correct? HOw did that even rate a positive?

Answer
Needed to vent. Thought this was the place. Apparently I was wrong.

I understand, wryly. Sometimes--even though it is just a neutral--it can still bug you.
Writing it down (like posting to the board) can be a great way to feel better. :-)

Answer
I know how you feel Wryly. I've had 2 neutrals in my eBay time and they sting.
One was for shipping charges during a transition time (changed my S & H to parcel post from priority). The other was from a NPB that left a neutral because I wouldn't accept payment over a month after the sale and after I filed FVF. Go figger.
It won't feel so bad to ya after a while. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif

I still get irritated when I see my neutral...It was a Brand newbie (in my general area) and all went very well. Her neutral said something like: Great seller but smaller than I thought they would be.
They were glass ornaments - dimensions all noted and image had a crayon in it to show the size. They were new in box and the matching dinnerware pattern had been retired the previous year or two. I shipped same day. Grrrr.
But she was new and I am happy that it doesn't impact my percentage. (And I will be here when I get my first neg, you can bet on that - no one else would be able to understand why I have to vent about it). wryly - I hope you got that hot bath!

I probably would have sent an email also,
bet you won't hear back from him.
I would probably go buy a bunch of stuff from great sellers (someone like me http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif) and pay so I could get lots of new positives to scroll it off the front page. course, any reason is a reason tobuy for me. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif Just kidding
Hope You are feeling better about it today.

Answer
He gave YOU a neutral because he was too big of a dumba$$ to put his inventory on vacation w/Half.com? What a jerk! That would tick me off too. You can come here & vent anytime. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif I just did.

Answer
for not getting back to this guy quick enough on a custom order after the ebay sale. The guy received his ebay purchase in 3 days, but he left a negative because I didn't get back with him on an extra order until about 4 days later. The feedback has absolutely nothing to do with the ebay transaction.
Feedback really doesn't seem to affect my auctions though. I think as long as you are in the 99% and up you are fine.

Answer
Wryly - I'm sorry if my response made you feel as though this wasn't the place to vent. I was merely trying to help you put it in perspective some.
Neutrals are not negs. They don't "hurt" the receiver. I'm sure in giving the guy a positive you had hoped he would return the same, and that's part of the frustration.
However, it's transactions like this that inflate and negate the entire feedback system. Should feedback not be a honest representation of what actually took place?
This seller did not deserve a positive. The transaction was not even completed. You did not deserve a neutral. Now you both have false/worthless feedbacks. It's a pet peeve of mine, but I should have been more sympathetic to the nature of your post - to vent.
We all have days like that... Like today, when the AC has died and it's 95 degrees and climbing in my office, and customers are being particularly difficult... /grin Probably karma for being so obnoxious to you yesterday.
