Buyers & Sellers Poll: Gallery Pic

Question
Howdy yall
Have you noticed a increased w/ the Gallery picture or is it a waist of the money ?

Answer
I would think that it would vary with what you are selling.
Cheers, Kevin

Answer
I'm a seller and a buyer.
As a buyer I ALWAYS look at the gallery pics and tend not to click on the listings without one. Based on this...I now always use gallery in my auctions.

Answer
I agree with NotMe. When I do a search I am much more inclined to click on the listings that have the little pic in front. Because of that, I now include Gallery in my listings.
I never go to eBay's Gallery to browse because it's too hard to find.

Is this for all items or just certain type of items?
I sell books...many of my books no longer have jackets (many never had jackets) and the book is just a solid color like black, red, dark green, brown, etc. Although I use the gallery for china and glass, I don't use it for books because I figured people would be looking for books based on the content, author, etc and a gallery picture of a black or red or other color rectangle wouldn't cause anyone to look at my auction over another persons auction. Am I missing the boat in not using gallery for my books?

Answer
Something like that, no I don't go by the gallery pic-same with such things as movies. Common items that usually are the same the pic doesn't seem to pull me in as much. But with things like clothing, glassware, etc. the pic is a must lately with sooo much stuff to look at.

Answer
Mommagonecrazy...thanks for the response
I always use gallery for anything that I think the buyer wants to see what it looks like but books, CDs I don't.
I have experimented back and forth on using gallery for sheet music and postcards and have found no real difference in sell through...I came to the conclusion that the gallery pic is so small that not enough detail showed up on those items to draw a buyer to mine over another....plus, the possibility of someone having the same sheet music or post card up at the same time I did seemed low.

Answer
I look for non-gallery items. Figure that's where the bargains are.

If it is a book, CD, DVD....no, then I look at BIN price and shipping. (If I am in the mood to buy one of these items, I usually want it NOW! )
If it's something there aren't many listed of....I'm not as adamant about a gallery picture. Like MGC said though....clothing, glassware, items with LOTS of listings...I narrow my choices by looking at the gallery pic.
