Question
Can anyone tell me the advantages with being a power seller on eBay? Disadvantages?
We qualify, but I am not sure that is the way for us to go. For the record, we make hand crafted solid wood items.
What is your opinion?
Answer
I've been a powerseller, and I've not been a powerseller - I never seemed to notice much difference in the bidding action either way, although I can't help but think it must give a seller a bit more credibility.
Answer
I've been a silver or gold powerseller for 4 years..they only advantage I can see is the fast email response when you have a problem..plus when you're a silver they give you a toll free phone number..I've never used it as the emails seem to work for me with what few problems I've had.

Bronze level for me. Right now, I'm out. The only reason I signed up in the first place was to get the certificate for my collection.

I'm a part time seller and usually close my eBay store for a minimum of 3 or 4 months. Last year I was offered Powerseller status about 3 different times during my busier months. I knew I'd not be able to maintain the status and couldn't see any real advantages so I declined each time.
This year I will accept if offered because I finally did discover a real advantage - $50 worth, even if I'm only a Powerseller temporarily. As a Bronze Powerseller with an eBay Store I'd qualify for a one-time $50 credit/promotional dollars towards a Keyword campaign. It gets better the higher the level of Powerseller:
Bronze and Silver - $50 one time usage
Gold - $75 per quarter
Platinum - $125 per quarter
Titanium - $200 per quarter

I remember reading back quite some time ago about power sellers being offered health insurance through eBay. Is this true or no longer is in effect?
Answer
I guess I should have said I've always been a Bronze or Silver Powerseller..I just looked at the chart and I've never came close to a Gold status..lol.
Irene,I closed my store because of the constant billing problems I've had for the last 6 months and it shows no sign of letting up...a lot of people were getting charged double or more for their store.
I've had to manually pay my account twice in the last 6 months and this month looks to be no different..I got another one of those emails stating they tried to debit my account and there wasn't enough funds..and there is always enough funds in my account to pay my bill.

I re-opened my store on August 31 and saw no store subscription fee charges until my September invoice which was ready a couple of days ago. That invoice charged me for August 31, the month of September and for the month of October, so it's up to date. I did notice the eBay letterhead on top of the invoice showed an address in Switzerland. Perhaps the Swiss handle billings for all non-American sellers?
Answer
Well there seems to be no real great advantage for us.. We would be bronze with no problem, but I have spoken with a few others that were or are PS's and they say that the benefits aren't all that much.
So, I think I will just stick with the status quo...
Thank you all for you input.. We appreciate it.

Answer
I would sign up if I were you. Sometimes the benefits pop up. For example, I was able to attend eBay Live for free several years ago. eBay since then eliminate this benefit. But one never knows what may pop up next.
Also, someone mentions free ads on eBay worth like $50/quarter. Not sure if of any benefit. I just find there are no downsize to being one.
