Calling all Canadians

Question
Well, I was getting ready to list stuff for the Xmas sale season on EBAY and I went to do my price conversions and had to give my head a shake.
I mean, the dollar hit 80 cents US today and they are saying it isn't coming down anytime soon. And I believe that.
Which means I am finding it very difficult to bother with listing anything because my profit margin is gone. As in zero.
Now I still have some good stuff kicking around (videos and DVDs) and I can likely make some money on those but as to bringing in anything else? Not even worth it.
I'm not about to go around sourcing new product or making my own stuff, I'm busy enough with the store. But I did like to list some stuff every couple of months to keep the EBAY reflexes tuned up. Now it looks like this is end for a while.
The good side of it is that my cost of importing cool DVDs has dropped dramatically so my main business benefits overall.
Anyway, just wondering how the rest of y'all are doing with the deadly exchange rate and if anyone else is thinking of calling it quits on EBAY.

Answer
not calling it quits, but have slwoed down immensely, between Canada Post jerking with the shipping, the poor exchange rate, ebay glitches, and poor sell through, why bother.
I am still aiming for 200 items per week starting next week, but the stock is different, and so is my main focus. The financial side is not fun anymore, although I do enjoy the work side of it, so I will keep plugging along and hope those yankies figure out what they are doing wrong and get that dollar strengthened up.......if not, this will probably be my last selling season as a full timer...........but I will stay in it part time forever, of that I am pretty sure.
My real life store is doing exceptionally well, so are my show booths, so online has taken a back seat temporarily.

Answer
Its pretty sad I'll tell ya. I raised my prices on some of my stuff but on some things I can't as the competition is so stiff, I simply wouldn't sell it.
Working more on website, wholesale and gonna do some retail shows as well. The online world may be closing up for us Canucks fairly soon. Got $1.22 for my US dollars the other day on paypal and that's a long way from the $1.56 I was getting a year ago.

Answer
If you have the patience to weed out the shipping scam artists and find watch the auctions, I can find some stuff to buy on ebaY and sell locally for a few bucks if I wanted to.

Answer
When Gabs cuts back her listings you know things are bad.

Answer
Going to start listing at higher numbers this week, I am getting too backlogged in inventory here. Not holding a lot of hope for big profits, but I gotta start in sometime, my packer is going to forget how to mail stuff soon.
But I did have an interesting conversation with an auctioneer on the weekend, I might try a real auction, haven't done one of those as a seller in a long, long time.

This is a quote from a post above.
I need a lesson in converting money here please.
I have never been to Canada, so never had the need to learn this.
Can someone explain it to me in plain easy to understand language ?
What I understand so far, is that because the rate is where it is currently, it's not feasible for a Canadian seller to sell to the US.
