I had never heard of a *reborn* baby until last night. somehow stumbled across an auction for a reborn baby and wondered what the heck that was and started looking.
There is a category for them even. I swear, in my 7+ years on ebay I've never seen such a market, or such a group of sellers.
All of the most successful sellers are almost clones of each other, identical templates with only minor differences in graphics, identical layouts to even ending their listings with a list of some of their best feedbacks. Now, sure, I occasionally see ppl put some of their feedback in their auctions in my market but RARELY. It is common or apparently necessary practice in this category. almost identical tos and wording of their auctions. I mean, yes, in my market and others I see this but never to this degree or so blatant. It is just well, interesting/WIERD
I don't know, it's like some groupey thing, not moonies but rebornies, lol. But it proves there is money to be made still out there, these dolls are selling for $400-900!
and some of these sellers have absolutely gorgeous pictures, I'd love to know their cameras and lighting setups.

So a 'reborn' is a doll thats been restored or changed somehow? One doll I saw looked just like a real baby. Wow.

apparently, they take a brand new doll and enhance it to make it look as real as possible, weighting the head and body, replacing the eyes with glass ones, opening the nostrils and the mouth, painting the entire body. some are really stunning.

They are stunning and life like and it looks like a lot of work...
They also makeover old baby dolls as well as new ones.
Wish I were as talented but then it takes practice.

Yes, they are really something! What's that old yarn about Mother necessity? There are still folks with moolah to burn on the planet, and lots seem to want items no one else will have. I think it's wonderful ... alot like the OOAK Barbies.
