eBay's SYI form

Question
Just listing some auctions - on ebay's SYI form, reserve is not an obvious option as it used to be. Now you have to click a link to have the reserve box added. Under the box for the reserve price it says ..."The lowest price at which you're willing to sell your item is the reserve price (NOT ENCOURAGED)." I haven't listed for a while, so maybe this has been the norm?!
Sounds to me like it's going to be sooner rather than later that the US site has its reserve capabilities taken away.
In the meantime, that damnable "listing designer" will not stay minimized. I always figure that what they're trying to push the most WON'T stay minimized. Just an annoyance.

Answer
"The lowest price at which you're willing to sell your item is the reserve price (NOT ENCOURAGED)." Maybe they mean you should add a few bucks, in case Ebay is not performing as well as it should.
The reserve dropped into a "default" setting a while back.
The Listing design, fell OUT of "default" setting a while back. I think it was a bug, but it is probably more profitable not to fix it.
I am more cheesed off by the fact that they have re-split categories if you wish to list two categories (about 8 days ago), the new lesser format takes about 3 times as long to load and has to be loaded twice if you are changing two categories - and you can not go from one category to the other. Last night, even the item description page (now with less html or java to load, since the USA site has removed the one that gives an option to use HTML or one that inserts it automatically) was taking 3 to 4 minutes to load. It is ludicrous to drop seller productivity to an unviable level, whilst trying to be a viable company. I can only guess that most of Ebay management is unawarer of how hard they have made the process, and I can only guess that they really don't care. I am not computer savvy, and I am not the sort of neanderthal that they want using the site - they will win.

I have a dumb question..
With ebay moving into item specifics..Where does that leave selling in 2 categories ?? I see DVDs are all in one category..sooo ! Why would someone need 2 categories ??

Answer
In the music catergory you can't list in 2 catergories because of the simple fact there are no catergories anymore and you can't use 2 item specifics.
If I have a Disney LP I can use item specifics to put it in the childrens catergory and I can also put in under collectablesisney:Records because collectables still has catorgories.
There has been times I would like to put a record under 2 item specifics but you can't do it..seems like a money loser for Ebay to me.

Answer
doowooper..Thats exactly what I mean ?? It makes zippo, zilch, zero sense to me...I like item specifics BELOW the category level..

Answer
Item specifics take too much time to add to each listing therefore slowing down my listing process allowing me less time to read chatboards..lol.
I used to toss on 100 records real quick..with item specifics it take twice as long and I've never used Ebays listing formm..I'm sure it would take a lot longer on their 3 or 4 page form.

Answer
G'day Crystal,
Until (optional) item specifics annialate the ability to browse categories, there is plenty of viable reason to increase visibilty of an item where it appeals to two different areas of the market.
I do definitely still get value out of second categories for collectible type items, although I am aware that this is not the type of stock wanted by Ebay.
