Question
Someone posted a link to insightexpress for an eBay survey they received via email. The survey is legitimate. I believe everyone can use this link to take the survey once:

I answered the questions (they won't like my answers) and also copied the ones that I thought were most relevant to the actual survey's purpose. It looks like eBay is thinking about charging for customer service. I don't know what you guys think but I expect customer service to be FREE. Doesn't eBay make enough money to hire and train CS reps?
Ebay is also exploring the possibility of charging a fee for tutorials on using their own Seller Tools. Since some of their tools aren't free, don't you think it's a bit greedy for them to charge the seller for their use AND ALSO charge them to learn how to use the tool?
These are the questions relating to fees:
21. Would you be willing to pay $19.95 for an online webcast of a How-To course on an eBay Seller Tool?

24. Would you be willing to pay $15.95 for a DVD or VHS tape showing a How-To course on an eBay Seller Tool?

Blanche
Answer
Don't know what they are smoking but they seem to have an awful lot of it.
Answer
Now that is totally amazing. They must have a crackhead running the CS dept. I took the survey, I'm sure they won't like my answers either.
Answer
Do stock prices go up or down when a business looks really really desperate to find revenue?

How about "Not just no but HELL NO!"?
Answer
That is the way that many corporations are looking into. They can't be bothered with your problems. You know, they sell you a product or service, but they can't be bothered when you have questions or that it doesn't work right for you.
The usual consumer thing to do is to dump the offending corporation in faovr of a consumer-friendly compeitor. But eBay is a near monopoly and has little to worry about from competitors. That is why they feel that they can make you pay for getting help for the problems that they cause.
What to do?
Answer
I must have got a different version of the survey.
28(a). Would you be willing to pay $100 per case for premium phone support?
28(b). Would you be willing to pay $200 per case for premium phone support when we change something and it causes you problems?
Answer
21, 22, 23, and 24 all can be handled by illegal distribution of stream recorded versions of the file online. The VHS/DVD can also be done online or offline.
