Aaaah, gee, it's a bit more than they can afford.

Answer
Hey Neil, if it works for him I think I'll give it a try. It sure beats standing on the street corner with a tin cup. LOL

Answer
Hmmm....that house looks familiar, but it might be because I saw it in Texas Monthly magazine with other "dream homes". BTW, you know that same house would cost about 2 million in CA.
Blanche, let me just "barge in" with a plea for funds for this house, which I found about a week ago on eBay. Now, it costs just a bit over the other person's "Dream Home". I would also admit that I could buy a cheaper dream home (at least in Texas), and save the rest...if I had the necessary $698,000.
If someone wants to help me buy THIS ONE, you can have the other bedroom and bath. I am thinking that any house this expensive in Texas dollars should have at least 4 bedrooms, but alas, this one only has TWO!
Please note, I require the master bedroom, plus the observatory room with "wine grotto". For awhile, I thought this unusual home might be a Redneck kinda thing (although high-priced). Later, I decided that people all over the US and CANADA might build a similar home.
I will be even more generous, and say that you can build a Keeper's cottage on the adjacent land. You can call me the Lighthouse Keeper's RENTER or something. :p
I don't think they are gonna sell that property at THAT price. It could be worth it but....

Answer
OK Lisa. I'll take the Double Boathouse with Party Deck, Jetski Lift, Fishing Pier, and water slide.

Blanche, are you gonna sleep out there, also? TX winters can be freaky. Otherwise, that sounds fine...as long as I can practice fishing occasionally. I figure that you might find the TX summers a bit HOT, as we are now getting heat index figures around 107 some days. Later, the actual temps will reach 105.
No Problema! I will just push you down that water slide...free of charge. Just don't drag me along, as I can't swim.
Oops, here's something I found annoying about that (light)house. If those kitchen cabinets are really that puce/pea green color, I am not doing any cooking...not even with a microwave. Thus, that color has to go. Otherwise, I don't even go into the kitchen. You may serve me in my observation room.
Hey, I will give you tips!
Seriously , I think the 40 miles to Dallas, is a bit misleading. You might could get to the SE part of Dallas...but it would be closer to 60 miles to downtown Dallas. I haven't even been to that lake, but I think it would be a lovely area to live.
I have looked at PIC's of the Split Rock Lighthouse before. I kinda had to study these things, when I was selling switchplate covers with those landmarks upon them. This property is nice, but a far cry from the actual lighthouse. The cliff on Lake Superior is a tad different from that " walk out the door to the lake" situation in Texas. I believe I would prefer the TX version! (I really think Jeff Foxworthy might have a joke for this.)
Blanche, if you HELP? me buy this property, I can almost guarantee that the party deck will become the here Party Deck! I can just see it now.
If the price is too high, I just found a place in Galveston on a canal. There is a boathouse, but no party deck, etc. I looked at the Galveston house and thought "when is the next hurricane?"
The Split Rock lighthouse near Dallas would be a better "buy"...if they lowered the price.
