Question
We have stated we accept online money orders from www.auctionpayments.com and www.payingfast.com but just had someone email me stating they could get to auctionpayments but not to payingfast. I tried and sure enough can't get to their site. Haven't been monitoring this as closely as I guess I should. But anyone know if payingfast has gone 'belly up' and is there other online payment options besides auctionpayments for online money orders that fellow here members are using?
Answer
Payingfast is now defunct, and should be removed from all ads.
In fact, they were sold on ebay a short while ago.
BidPay, aka Auctionpayments is the main alternative to PayPal, thoguh many buyers find them extremely annoying with their stupid questions, and asinine decision to sit in judgement of each auction. They can withold payment if they FEEL the SHIPPING is too high......
Answer
They were listed, but I don't believe they ever sold it. They apparently lost their merchant account and couldn't get a new one and went under. 8( I was offering it too...
So now I'm left with Paypal, Paydirect (non CC only), Bidpay, and CheckFree Auctionpayments for payment methods besides cash, check, or money order.

They only give the appearance that they look at each auction. I have never heard of them stopping payment because of shipping, but they only look at the auction if they have a suspect buyer/card (or maybe seller when they have never been used before). I have had buyers quote a single $8 postcard when paying $45 for multiple purchases, and I know buyers who have just made up item numbers when buying goods privately (but they had already established themselves on BidPay).
They can occassionally be very slow at clearing a payment (particularly from France), but I have found the service very good since they settled their website problems at the beginning of the year after they changed their name (they were really bad for a month or so).
Cheers, Kevin

I don't advertise it, but buyers will sometimes ask me if they can send a wire transfer directly (to my checking account) or western union wire transfer. I accept both. It ends up costing the buyer a nice fee to send it, but it seems neglible when total price is over a certain amount. My bank charges a $10 international wire transfer receive fee, so I tack that on to the total as well.
I think ACH - a direct transfer from buyer's checking to your checking is the least expensive way to conduct business, but I don't know of any service that only charges the $0.35 transfer fee.
