our first locked thread

Question
I think we have our first locked thread, is there a prize for it.
what did I miss
It looked ok last time I was in it.....what happened?

Answer
I would tell you but then, of course, your account would have to be suspended. (That's a new eBay Nation rule. Any user or any poster on any board that mentions eBay Nation is likely to be suspended for any reason.)
Where you a buyer or a seller at this weekend's show?
If a seller, show us the money.

Answer
Seller, I had to buy a bigger wheelbarrow to get it all to the bank
I looooove these cash only shows
we have already booked next years space and are doubling our square footage,....it was incredible.
We have a small two day show next weekend, I am not working that one so I will be here.then back to the online selling,
your timing on the store forum was good, I am all pumped and ready to push it forward now.

Answer
Gabs, I know you do a lot of shows and they do well for you. Do you think it's possible to sell at shows with only smalls (I can't lift/carry furniture or heavy items.) that are just miscellaneous? By that I mean that I don't specialize in glass or jewelry or books. Just lots of different things. How do you go about choosing which shows to do? Do you do them entirely on your own or do you have a partner?
As you can tell, I'm struggling with how best to proceed in the antiques/collectibles business. It doesn't look like a B&M will work around here--the rent is just too high for any sort of decent location.

Answer
MR....there is only one way to choose a show, how many people with money does it attract.........
We have very specialized inventory which changes with each show we do, if we are doing an antique show we take quilts and primitives, if we are doing a memorabilia show we take that, this last one was Canada's largest automotive flea market, so we took our usual "stuff" which does well at this particular show. This year we started to do fall fairs as well, but they would probably not allow you in, as it wouldn't fit their criteria, if they are the same as ours are.
My recomendation is find the largest shows within your driving area, and book one. Make sure you streamline set up and knock down, because at the end of a show, you are exhausted. A lot of people do only smalls, furniture is too hard to move around. Pretty booths always tend to do well, so keep it feminine if you sell "girl" stuff, masculine if you sell "guys" stuff. Presentation is very important.
And don't go to a show because the rent is cheap, it is probably cheap for a reason.
How well advertised is it, how many people does it draw, choose your booth location carefully.

Answer
Thanks! I was kinda hoping you'd say you'd come and do it for me...

Just kidding!!! I really appreciate the info.

Many thanks!!!!

Answer
Good shows are the ones you cannot get in. You have to wait till a dealer dies or retire before you can get in.

Answer
I know.
