In response to feedback we received from the Community, we will be making a few enhancements to eBay Picture Services that will enable sellers to list with more pictures and to display larger pictures on their Item page. These enhancements will be introduced to the site in about a week.
After the enhancements, sellers will be able to display up to 12 pictures per listing.
The Supersize feature will also be improved. When you select Supersize, a larger picture will be displayed on the Item page. Buyers will be able to see pictures up to 500x375 pixels on the Item page, instead of the previous 400x300 pixel maximum. In addition, if the submitted picture is larger than 500x375 pixels, buyers will be able to click on it within the listing to enlarge it to up to 800x600 pixels.
Due to these enhancements, sellers who are using a Windows operating system and an Internet Explorer browser will be prompted to download a new Active X control on the Pictures and Details page of the Sell Your Item form. Please be assured that this is a safe download. Once it has been downloaded you will be able to upload your pictures more quickly and easily crop and/or rotate them.
Regards,
eBay

I wonder if eBay be able to persuade people to download the Active X control? http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_razz.gif
Answer
Why bother.
With a decent ISP and some web space, with a spot in your template for pics, you can put in as many pics as you want and as big as you d*mn well want.
And never have to worry about fleabay outages for your pics...
Answer
I agree with Snake. While I've occasionally used ebay's pic service, it is a TOTAL waste of your money.
Learn to host pics on your free webspace...most every ISP offers it, but too few know about it.

Very true. The problem (and to eBay's benefit) is the new sellers who think everything has to be done via eBay. Ebay makes FTP and URLs sound SO difficult that newer sellers end up spending an extra 75 cents for the 'picture pack' to make their listings really stand out.
I use listing software so I only use the ebay listing setup every couple of months. What I noticed is, they moved the picture preference (at to whether or not you're using your hosting or theirs) to the MyEbay page.
I signed up a new sellers account to see if it defaulted to their picture service or if it gave a choice. It was default to eBay picture service.
Answer
Geez,
That rots.
Ebay pics are so horrid I dont understand why anybody even bothers with them.
Its amazing how much those with poor computer skills can spend on garbage.
Instead of 'hosting services' and 'auction management tools' somebody should buy them a clue and tell them to get a Big Dummy's Book on Basic Computers and Internet.
Answer
I use eBay's image hosting. I could use my own, but eBay's is easier, doesn't cost me a cent, and for what I sell, I think the pictures look just fine. JMHO http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
Answer
decent ISP and some web space
While alot of ISP's give you a small amount of web space, for some people it isn't enough. Also, some of them do not allow "remote linking", meaning the space is fine for building a website, but can't be used for hosting pictures that are going to be displayed on a third party site (like eBay).
For some people, it is a good solution ("free" is always good if it works), for others it isn't.
Answer
I have always found it interesting that anytime EPS or the old iPix would come up that immediately people start lambasting what "crappy pictures" they are and "waste of money" as if it were an EBAY problem.....
.....much of what comes out on the screen will ALWAYS be directly related to the talent (or lack thereof ) of the picture TAKER!
Blaming out of focus, bad angled, poorly lighted, unedited photos on EPS is like blaming what comes in the newspaper on the paperboy. The one thing I have always remembered from my first "computer" class in college in 1978 was: Garbage In....Garbage Out!
Some people just have no business BEHIND the lens of ANY camera. Unfortunately, it seems most of them utilize eBay's system to post their "work." http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif
