"Go figure" Feedbacks....

Question
Got this "neutral" feedback from a newbie with zero FB record:
Neutral: Item was delivered in good condition Apparantly, this buyer thought they should have received their item quicker.
I reviewed the item history and left the facts in a feedback reply:
Response by summerbeemeadow - BOGUS: Bought 6/27; Paid 6/30; Completed sale terms 7/1; Shipped 7/2; Delivered 7/7. Then I sent an email to the buyer:
"I realize that you had never bought anything at Ebay before, but you should think and consider before you leave a "neutral" or a "negative" feedback for a seller like this.
UPS picked it up on 7/2 and delivered it on 7/5 - even though there was a national holiday in-between (remarkably good performance for UPS).
What else could we have done to provide you any better service?" Go figure - Some people just can't be made happy no matter what....

Answer
How do you know the problem was speed of delivery?

Answer
Not too many other possibilities. Product exactly as advertised (and guaranteed). Says received in good condition. All relevant terms and descriptions in the listing.

Answer
I would have just ignored it. By posting a response you make it larger so that it sticks out on the page. Now people will think that you had a dialog with the customer and they complained about shipping.
The feedback itself is good, the only reason it was a neutral was probably because they felt it was not a negative experience and it didn't blow their socks off, you know, neutral, as in average.

Answer
when I first started buying on ebay i lleft a couple of neutrals untill somebody set me straight
the thing is I pay you ship I get it ok thats what I expect
nothing exeptianal (positive)
nothing terrible (negative)
so neutral it is
when you think about it most tranasctions should be neutral

Answer
Logically, you're quite right. But in years of practice, that's not the way it works at Ebay. Ebay even warns the feedback-leaver that they need to carefully consider what they are doing before they can hit the final "continue" button for a neutral as well as a negative feedback.
Fast shipping and complete compliance with terms.etc should elucidate a positive - certainly not a neutral.

Answer
I know thats how it works
you know thats how it works
but a newbe or occasinal ebayer dosnt necessarly understand
It didnt know they gave a popup for neutrals i have only done positves and negitives since the first early ones
still I wouldnt be upset and the intent nay not have been to slam you

Answer
I received the following from this "go figure" buyer:
I didn't realize the consequences of making a neutral comment. This is despite the Ebay 'pop-up' warning...
To be quite honest, I wasn't overly enthused when i got the product, because it was supposed to be next day. I had to pay the extra fee that came with it... We don't offer "next day" shipping. It was quite clearly UPS Ground and only UPS Ground that is offered. There was no "extra fee".
When something is advertised "next day", i would assume for it to be here the next day, or at the latest three days; NOT 7 Days Later. You could of asked if i recieved the product yet, or, have written an email appologizing for the delay. Now this is totally amazing, as this was NOT advertised as "next day". And he wants an apology for perfect, as-advertised, as-paid for service!
Go figure!!
This is a perfect example of how Ebay fails to educate their buyers in using their processes and the importance of reading the listings for the items that are purchased. Having the "buy now" link at the very top of the listings encourages members to buy without reading what is below.
I know thats how it works
you know thats how it works
but a newbe or occasinal ebayer dosnt necessarly understand Yep, absolutely. But the increasing number of uneducated buyers who "buy" on impulse and then back out or otherwise don't pay, buy without reading terms and buy with unrealistic or totally fictitious expectations, buyers who list non-working email accounts with Ebay and those who buy using another person's Ebay or PayPal account are taking away "the joy of Ebay", for sure.
I see Ebay manipulating its marketplace and its sellers to increase their profits again and again, but I don't see much happening to make it run much smoother.

Answer
So your answer should be ...
The ad never stated next day, I am not sure where or when you got that impression, unless it is for something else you purchased and then left me the bad feedback....there was no extra fee, you fabricated that part of your story, I will not apologize for doing my job properly, YOU owe me an apology for improper facts and FB...

Answer
I know what my vote would be.
You never change these peoples' minds. Don't even try.
It's only feedback. It ain't important no how.
Your feedback rating will NOT be carved on your tombstone.
