How to get around eBay's link rule

Question
I'm guessing it's a NO-NO but it's a creative way around the link rule and the rule against mentioning your website:
fabric auction

Answer
thats a violation.
there can't be a url on the photo unless its their ebay i.d.

Answer
Nonsense! Is is only a ruler!

Answer
Yup, but that is one loaded ruler http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif
I feel this is a clear violation. It really does make you think though, if a seller of that volume can get away with something like that, what others are doing....

Answer
I notice the rule is different in some of their other listings - I wonder if they've gotten a slap before for it...

Morning ponderings:
Do people list items at eBay for kicks?
To support eBay?
Or to sell it?
(retorical question)
Does it REALLY matter (to the individual/collective YOU) WHERE they sell it, as long as they sell it?
Does it really matter (to the individual/collective YOU)if they sell ADDITIONAL items?
Do all bases REALLY belong to eBay?
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away .... a seller could place a link to their store or website in the actual listing at eBay. This was fine.
But some buyers were being ripped off, and demanded that eBay "do something", so links were banned.
Today, no mention of a website can be made, no website email address can be used (unless grandfathered in) as a user ID, and buyers are STILL getting ripped off.
The Borg have arrived.

i don't think it was for that reason, it was most likely because ebay wasn't gettin' the $
from any nonebay sale.

Answer
I don't disagree, Imosh! That, too, for sure!

Answer
Kathleen - I would love to way to get more people to our website and away from eBay - I got slapped on the wrist in the beginning because I used to word 'website' and that's not even allowed.
Right now I'm going to put a link to our textile resource center, and we've made it 2 clicks away from the homepage. It was a hassle but the only way to do SOMETHING legally. Fingers and toes crossed that it helps generate something....

Answer
Couldn't you just say something like, "Items just like this one are selling every day on the internet. Use your head and see if you can figure out where you can buy them. I use a search engine to find really neat stuff!"
If you don't really want to sell on ebay anymore, and I can think of many reasons why I wouldn't, then why not tell potential bidders they can get it for less elsewhere? Start it too high on ebay, give people a nudge, and reap the benefits. There has to be a way to word it without being in violation.
