"Make Thousands Every Month on eBay" infomercial

Question
Saw it for the first time on TV late last night. Dave Somebody's system for making thousands every month on eBay:
I'll tell you where to find products to sell on eBay, how to work with wholesalers and drop shippers so you don't have to make any investment in inventory, how to find inventory at flea markets and junk shops, even how to find stuff around your home, and the homes of your family and friends, to sell on eBay."
Followed by testimonials of the usual idiots claiming to have made "$33,000 in sales deposits in just one month!" as small type appears at the bottom of the screen explaining that the numbers are gross sales amounts by some of "Dave's top students."
It was very cheezy and had all the charm of a too-good-to-be-true scheme, right up there with stuffing envelopes at home.
I'm sure promos like this only enhance the impression of eBay sellers as scammers and sleazebags.

Answer
It's interesting to see the keyword ads Google dishes up on these pages. Just type in "sleazy eBay sellers" or "get rich quick" and Google provides some matching links. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
I heard an interesting eBay ad on the radio. Hispanics talking about how they built their B&M businesses by buying equipment for cheap on eBay. No glizy music or comedy, just heavily accented voice-overs. I thought it was unusual.

I've always believed testimonials are the perfect technique for advertising eBay. I know that when I get together with people they want to hear about my eBay adventures and conquests -- what fantastic item I bought for a pittance, what undervalued item I sold for a bundle, what rare piece I've added to my collections, etc. That's the kind of thing that interests people about eBay and may lure new customers to take a look.
Instead eBay runs commercials like the crap currently airing with some moronic black guy dancing and singing.

Answer
It's probably easier to make thousands a month selling "Make Thousands on Ebay Made Easy" type stuff than it is to make thousands a month selling stuff on ebay.

Answer
If it's that easy to sell on ebay, why are they using the TV?
I feel bad for the poor people who fall for this stuff.

I'm seeing a bunch of "drop shipper" ads. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

Answer
I've heard too many "come to ebay and get your item cheap" type of ads.
I suppose they are trying to draw customers to the site and that's not a bad thing, but I resent the get-your-item-for-pennies-on-the-dollar implications.
As far as the "student" who earned $33,000.00 in one month? I don't believe it. I suppose it would be possible with some employees to share the workload.
Consider my latest buying adventure.
I spent 2 days running the wheels off my vehicle looking for good items for resale. Spent one night in a semi-sleazy motel because I can't see springing for the nicer motel room. Got home last night very tired. Now I have to go to work listing the stuff I bought. I'll make some money but will have worked hard for it, not to mention the cash outlay for the trip and merch.
Of course I could just become a drop shipper and money would magically fall into my lap. I'd get a thousand negs per week too but who's counting?
