I have asked this previously within threads, and as far as I know the answer is no.
I have a steadily increasing number of buyers who insist that I have their address, and that it is exactly as supplied by Ebay. It can take 2 or 3 emails back and forth to actually get the buyer to supply an address, even after they have paid.
Whilst I find this annoying (and occassionally time consuming and delaying shipping), it is not sufficient reason for me to enable Checkout or to ever consider dealing with PayPal. I refuse to deal with PayPal (longer term here users have seen me discuss why many times), and I do not use Checkout as instead of replying with emails from the buyer, the emails come from aw-confirm*ebay.com. For my personal system this makes it harder to identify whether a buyer has contacted me, and is much more time consuming in "replying" to buyers to confirm shipping or make any further enquiry.
To the best of my knowledge sellers who do not use Checkout or PayPal are not supplied the buyer's postal address by Ebay. Am I incorrect on this, or is there another way of getting the buyer address on a current completed auction?
Does checkout still only send emails with an Ebay return address, or can options be set so that it has the return address of the buyer?
Thank you, Kevin

I see that email addresses are now censored on this board. The * above is an "at" in an email address.
Kevin (always bemused by censorship)
Answer
I agree 100% with your thinking. I used to communicate only through emails and I finally had to give in to the checkout process. Too many people were bi*tching about having to type their mailing address in an email along with the item name and number. Don't forget, most people are not computer literate and don't know how to type like us veterans.
If eBay forwarded the emails from checkout with the sender's email address in the 'from' field instead of the generic awconfirm crap, it would be easier to track who sent what.
I also had many incorrect addresses for buyers that was sent to me because they "forgot" to change their registered address when they moved.
Let's see if the automatic censor can catch me * this which is not an email address (it's the 'at' sign). (edited to say that it censors any 'at' sign as in the sentence before this one.
The old story about censorship is: "If you let the nose of a camel inside the tent, the rest will eventually follow".
Answer
Hi Kevin. Jim changed the "at" symbol to an * symbol on purpose in order to keep the spam bots from harvesting email addresses. It's called "munging" your email addy and it's a GOOD thing.

G'day Superman,
"Don't forget, most people are not computer literate and don't know how to type like us veterans."
Some of us "veterans" are also computer illiterate, and I only use two fingers to type (although it has gotten more efficient with practice).
G'day Blanche,
I never think about email harvesting. I have never heard of the term munging before....
Cheers, Kevin (probably been munged and never knew it )

Cheers, Kevin (probably been munged and never knew it) Oh, I think you would know it - being munged is not a pretty sight. LOL

And there is a way to have eBay send you its contact information by performing a search.
- Click on "Search" at the top of an eBay page.
- Click on "find members" at the top.
- Click on "Find Contact Information" at the left.
- Enter a search for the buyer's ID and the item number.
Answer
I don't know if you want to use the eBay invoice system, but if you send them an invoice (you can specify money order only if you want - dont have to accept PP) then the next window opens with a link to "status" - their mailing address is displayed.
Of course, if you are wanting their address to calculate shipping - this info doesn't help

Answer
G'day Turtle,
Does the contact information now supply the actual address if you are in a transaction with a buyer? The last time I used it, it only gave the town, zip/postcode and the contact telephone number, but not the actual postal (or registered) address.

Of course, if you are wanting their address to calculate shipping No, I am only wanting to get the postal address so that I can send the item when they have already paid, instead of doing a 3 to 7 day email tango while I try to convince them that I don't actually have their postal address even if their correct address is on Ebay. There are only a few buyers that are this extreme, but it is happening more regularly now.
For some reason I feel extremely guilty if I have received payment but have not sent the item, even if the buyer will not supply an address.
Cheers, Kevin
