high risk pool insurance

Question
What is the name of your state? minnesota
i just applied for insurance through my state's high risk pool after being denied by blue cross. what kind of coverage can i expect? the pamphlet seemed vague. from what i can tell, it will not cover routine blood tests or yearly physicals. i don't understand what is meant about not covering investigative proceedures. does that mean that if a dr suspected i had cancer, the cost of biopsying the tissue to determine its composition would not be covered? that if i walked into a dr's office with a sore throat, the cost of the culture to determine if i had strept or whatever would not be covered?

Answer
If you want specifics you will have to get them from the state or one of the participating carriers.
In general, such plans are mostly catastrophic coverage designed to cover accidents and illness including your pre-ex.
No, they are not comprehensive in nature. Most items such as doc visits, lab work, physicals, etc are affordable if you plan for it.

Answer
Investigational usually means a new type of procedure being tested to determine it's safety/effectiveness, ie, not yet accepted by mainstream medicine. A throat culture is not investigational.
