Employer Cancelled Health Insurance

Question
What is the name of your state? Colorado
The owners cancelled everyone's health insurance with no notice or authorization-employees just found out as they started going to their various doctors or pharmacies that they had no coverage. I think this is due to failure on the employer's part to keep up on paying the premium.
Furthermore, new employees who were promised their health insurance benefits would be effective (one the first of this month -- four weeks ago) and one the first of next month (this coming Sunday) will have none. Are there laws to protect employees from this? Is there anything employees can do about it?

Answer
Please help, I really need help and I don't know what to do. My health insurance has been taken away by my employer, and I just found out it was cancelled a month ago! Is there anything I can do about this?

Answer
First of all, please be patient. This is a volunteer site. You posted after hours yesterday and quite early in the morning the second time. Operators are not standing by 24/7 to answer your call, okay?
As to your question, it makes a BIG difference whether or not the employer simply failed to pay premiums on time, thus causing the insurer to cancel the policy, or whether your employer actively took steps to have the policy cancelled - i.e. sent them a letter saying, please cancel thus and so policy number effective such and such a date.
The law does NOT require your employer to have health insurance for your employees. There MIGHT be a law requiring a certain amount of notice IF the employer is planning to cancel the policy permanently. If it was simply due to an oversight on paying the premium, there's a reasonable likelihood that the plan will be reinstated.
More info is needed.
