i was recently denied individual coverage by bluecross due to pericarditis that was diagnosed a month ago. i am a 21 year old female, average weight, non smoker. i am concerned now that i will never be able to get anything other than state funded coverage for the rest of my life because of this denial. is this the case? does one denial always indicate that the person denied will continue to be denied, even years later?

Not necessarily. Different companies have different standards for what they will and won't cover. You might find another company will cover you but at a higher rate, or that they'll have a pre-ex rider for the pericaritis.
It shouldn't affect your ability to get employer-sponsored group insurance at all.
