Question
What is the name of your state?
Georgia
My husband and I have worked for his family's company for some time. They have covered the cost of health insurance in full as one of the benefits they offer. My husband and I were on seperate plans because it was cheaper for them as a business for us to be that way versus listed as a family. Recently, I found new employment that does not offer health insurance. We sought to place me under my husband's plan through his parents company. They have said that to do so will cost us $300+ a month. I find this ridiculous considering that I can go directly through the same insurance company(a nationwide, well known company) for much, much less(nearly 1/5 of their price). Are there any laws that state that a company must offer insurance benefits to spouses at a reasaonable price, or should I simply seek out other insurance? I would not want to take them to court over this, since they are family, but I would like to present them with evidence if there is such.

If you are fortunate enough to be eligible for insurance at 1/5 of the price, I'd say go for it. You're not going to get a better deal than that anywhere.

Are there any laws that state that a company must offer insurance benefits to spouses at a reasaonable price, As long as the employer isn't charging the employee more than the actual cost of the insurance, they can share the cost with employees as they please - up to having the employees pay 100% of the cost.
I find this ridiculous considering that I can go directly through the same insurance company(a nationwide, well known company) for much, much less(nearly 1/5 of their price) You can obtain comparable medical coverage for approximately $60 a month? I find that very difficult to believe but you certainly are free to reject coverage through your husband's employer and get individual coverage on your own.

No. There aren't. In fact, there are no laws that require a company to offer insurance benefits to spouses AT ALL.
For that matter, except in Hawaii (and not always there) no laws compel an employer to offer insurance benefits to EMPLOYEES, let alone spouses.
