They are deceased. But I think that my father tried to change beneficiary to himself. He has power of attorney.

POA dies along with the person's passing.

In most states this could be considered abuse of power of attorney and the person who did it could be subjected to embezzlement charges. Consult a probate or business law attorney to see what your state law says.
Normally a beneficiary change should be done with a form submitted by the insurance company.
