Question
My boyfreind has a genetic illness which requires regular hospitalization. The hospital submitted bills from 2000-2001, amounting to over $20,000.00, to his insurance company, and the insurance company has refused to pay, claiming that the bills were "not submitted on time." The hospital has turned the bills over to a collection agency in his name, which is threatening to sue us within a few days. Both the hospital and the insurance company agree in phone calls that the bills are not my boyfreind's responsibillity. The bills are from GA hospital, GA insurance. What can we do?
Answer
If the hospital sues him, he would file a cross claim against the insurance company -- naming them as a defendant in the same action.
In the meantime he should complain to the plan sponsor and the insurance company and the state insurance department.
