Question
If a person fakes their death and doesn't cash in their life insurance what consequences if any will occur?
CA
Ky
NV
NY
Answer
Faking one's death is a crime, whether a particular state defines it as an obstruction of justice, interference with governmental operation, etc. It is costly to investigate and cops and DAs get real angry when it comes to someone wasting scarce government resources. If in the couse of investigation someone is injured, that's even a greater crime.
Attempting to cash in a policy on the basis of a faked death would be criminal fraud.
