Our company has just manufactured a new product that we deliver to their location. Is is necessary to carry some type of liability insurance should there be any accidents/injuries associated with our product.

Sure would be desirable to pay a relatively little now to avoid major exposure -- even if only for defense costs -- later. It is called product liability insurance and may be a rider to a general comercial policy.
