I recently got married, left my job and home in Brooklyn, NY to move in with my husband in New Castle, DE. The house we now share is a house he and his ex-wife purchased together. The mortgage has not yet been fully paid and is in both of their names. During an argument my husband told me, "This is not your house, your name is not on it!" My question is this, if my husband dies before I do, will the house belong to me or his ex-wife?
Also, what can I do to get his ex-wifes name off the house and have my name put on the house?What is the name of your state?

He'll probably have to refinance the house to get her removed, and pay her off whatever he owes her. What does his divorce decree say about it? By the way, the only part of the house that you MAY be entitled to, is the equity on the house that grew after you married.
