Will it benefit to call insurance company?

Question
What is the name of your state? PA
We had a small fire on the outside deck today due to negligence. (cigarette not in ashtray) It was out before the fire department came but they were called by a neighbor. It was enough to damage corner of deck (will need to be replaced), and warp some siding. All the wood underneath siding is fine. The fire department told us to call our homeowners insurance in the morning, but I am wondering if that should even be done seeing as how it was negligent. Is it standard practice to call the insurance company, or are they only good when it's not our fault. I guess my question is would hurt more than help to call the insurance company? Do we have to call them because the fire department came out, or is it up to us? Would it be better to deal with it on our own?
Thank you in advance

Answer
Nevermind, Thank you anyway

I am assuming you are stating that you started the fire.
If that is true, then don't call.
Just fix the damage and quit smoking.
