Question
Hi,
I just today received a letter from my Grandmother's insurance company stating they have cancelled her homeowner's policy June 2nd. She passed April 19th. The reason is "Dwelling no longer owner occupied". Can they do that??? On the date of the notice, my mother and myself (I am the executrix of her estate), were actually occupying the home.
Thanks.
Answer
Explain it to the company. Or go to a broker and get another policy -- even if it costs more. Unoccupied, and non-owner occupied homes pose a greater risk of damage, vandalism , etc. and some companies don't write such coverage.
Answer
I see. Okay. Thank you very much for the reply.
