Homeowners insurance adequate when renting out a home?

Question
What is the name of your state? Louisiana.
Have moved to a new house, but still own the old one. Am considering renting out the old place for six months or so before I sell it. Do I need any special insurance, or will my homeowner's policy on the house be adequate?

Answer
Require your renters get renters Insurance too.

Answer
You also need to inform your insurance company of your intent to rent.

Answer
A landlord's policy.

Answer
Your homeowners will not cover your rental house.
You may want to rent your house out. If it is left vacant, a policy covering vacant dwelling is very high and usually last 3 to 6 months. If it is rented, then you need a dwelling fire policy. You also want to cover your liability for this house whether rented or not. You should contact you agent and discuss it with him or her.
Hope this helps.
