My contractor or theirs

Question
What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania
After a good thunderstorm, I had water leaking into the house due to several shingles that had been torn off by branches or blown off by wind. The shingles were well beyond there life expectancy. I had several contractors inspect and give estimates for the repairs or replacement of the roof. The insurance company said they had a contractor in my area that would also give an estimate if I wanted them too. I said yes, which was probably my first mistake. My two questions are:
1. Can they deny paying for repairs or replacement since the shingles were so old?
2. If I choose to use one of my contractors, are they only obligated to pay the estimate
of their contractor even if mine is higher?
I know nothing about their contractor (they don't even have a listing in the phone book)when it comes to the quality of their work and would rather use one of mine which are very reputable in the area.I also don't feel that I should have to pay the difference out of my pocket . Thanks!!!!!

1. Can they deny paying for repairs or replacement since the shingles were so old?Do you have a home warranty? If not, it is very possible the insurance won't cover the *Out Lived* shingles.
2. If I choose to use one of my contractors, are they only obligated to pay the estimate
of their contractor even if mine is higher? They have their own contractors. If you don't want to use one they approve, then you pay.

Thanks!!!!! You should pay the whole thing since insurance doesn't cover normal wear & tear. Based on your own admission, the damage was caused because your shingles had outlived their purpose. Your fault.
