Pre-exisiting Cond. question

Question
What is the name of your state? Connecticut.
I dont have health insurance, but my boyfriend does. I've noticed a lump in one of my Breast ( only being 24, I'm hoping its not cancer). I plan on going to one of the low-income medical clinics for a mamagram. If it ends up being cancer, We both decided that we won wait to get married, so that I can get on his Cigna health insurance. I've heard that some companies wont accept you if you have certain pre-medical conditions. would breast cancer be one of them. If i dont go to my regular MD for this mamagram, will the Ins. company recieve a record of it?
Thanks for any advice that can be given

Thanks for any advice that can be given This is not a legal question. Your scenario presents a lot of "what if's" and is probably better suited in another forum. Good luck.

Answer
The answer to your question is policy specific and is not dictated by law. You would have to look at your fiance's policy for the answer. Some policies don't have a pre-ex clause at all.
Under the law, there IS a limit to how long a condition can be consider pre-ex IF the carrier chooses to apply a pre-ex clause. The LONGEST that an insurance carrier can legally consider a condition pre-existing is one year.
The above assumes two things; one, we are talking about an employer-sponsored group policy and two, that you enroll on the plan as soon as you become eligible. The rules are different for individual plans and for late enrollees.
