Question
What is the name of your state? Indiana
My wife and I just had our second baby in a years time of each other. I managed to payoff the medical bills from the first baby without any problems.
I believe in paying my debt and I pay a little on all my medical bills I owe. One particular bill is from the anesthesiologist and they are not happy with me paying 25 to 30 bucks a month on a bill that now has a balance of 85 bucks!!! and they are wanting to send the bill to collections.
I am freaking pissed. I have 5 other medical agencies that I owe and all are being paid something a month and these freaks are the one's that wanna complain.
Can they send my balance to collections, when I have been paying them something every month? They've been cashing my checks, b/c my bank statements show this.
I called my insurance and they told me what they paid them is what they (the insurance company) feels that the services should've cost. So apparently the medical group is overcharging me, b/c some don't have medical insurance and the medical group never gets paid, so they over charge those that do have insurance to recoup their losses. (this came directly from a manger from a hospital, that I felt overchanged me for a stress test).
This medical group wants this 85 bucks within 7 days. I know 85 bucks don't seem a lot, but it is to a family who has 3 kids, 2 in diapers. This just really pisses me off that I'm trying to pay everybody and they are whinning like a three year old.
Sorry, this is more of a rant, but any advice would be appreciated.

A: Yes.
Answer
Anesthesiologists rarely participate in any managed care contracts and are free to charge whatever they wish. That does not mean they are overcharging, but rather you are under-paying. You may complain all you want but if they want their money now my suggestion would be to pay it. If you cant afford it, then it begs the question as to what made you think you could afford a third child?

You can't go to the grocery store and go to the check out and say, oh I will pay you 25.00 a month until it is paid. You get the goods you have to pay. Why is any different if you go to a doctor, hospital or need an anesthesiologist?
