I'm pregnant I need help !!!!!

Question
What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NEVADA
My husband and I had a health insurance policy since June of 2005. He worked for that company since October 2004, they promised to insure all of the employees earlier, but they didn’t. My husband was laid off in July, but his previous employer gave us an option to continue health insurance coverage under COBRA. We sign all the papers and I send check to the employer every month; two months ago I realized that they didn't cash those checks. I called and asked what’s going on, they told me that they have financial problems and they stop paying insurance, but everything is under control, and they will pay everything and insurance will be back 1st of October. Today is 10th of November and I still don’t have insurance. I called insurance, they told me, that the company paid premium only in June, so since July we don’t have insurance. My husband’s previous employer didn’t inform us about the situation. I’m 7 months pregnant and I don’t know what to do. No insurance want to talk with me. I already paid hundreds during last month; I’m waiting for all the bills since July which insurance will not pay, and of course delivery will cost a lot. I’m not a rich person; I don’t have money for all this expenses. I just can’t believe that I don’t have any rights. I’m waiting for any suggestions that can help me. Thank you.

Answer
Dear Dorota,
I am not sure about Nevada, but in NY you can get free health insurance for pregnant women.
call Nevada's dept of health phone: (775) 684-0500 and ask for free insurance for pregnant women. And also (800) 360-6044. You have to qualify income wise to be eligable.
I also recommend visiting . Based on what you are saying you are protected under HIPPA and by law you should be offered at least 2 plans per insurance carrier.
Powodzenia,
Ewa

Answer
HIPAA has nothing to do with continuation of insurance.
If the company is no longer offering insurance to active employees, they have no legal obligation to offer COBRA.

Answer
Based on what you are saying you are protected under HIPPA and by law you should be offered at least 2 plans per insurance carrier. That statement is so totally incorrect on so many levels I don't even know where to begin.
