Question
What is the name of your state?CA-I (step mother) provide medical/dental insurance for my step children and childrens mother provides medical/dental insurance for my step children as well (Court ordered that we both carry insurance). Hers is an HMO and mine is a PPO. Mother took her daughter (my step daughter) to get wisdom teeth pulled. Daughter told us that the cost was going to be $1500. If she goes thru her insurance and gets a portion paid can we have dentist bill my insurance for the remaining balance?
What is the best way to do this?
Answer
Yes. Just tell your dentist's office about all your insurance coverage. Either they will bill the insurers for you or provide forms for you to bill them yourself.
Answer
If they are a "complimentary" plan to the primary plan, they may pick up some of the copayment due - -
The only way to know for sure how the 2nd carrier is going to process this is to submit the claim with the EOB from the 1st payer and see what happens.
