I was in a car accident. My H M O paid $3,383.00 for my medical expensinces. the representive for the insurance co. of the person who hit me has been corresponding with the caseworker of my HMO. They cuncluded that the insurance co. of the guy who hit me would send me a check of 4,040. made out to myself and my HMO. Then I would have to send the check to my HMO and wait for them to send the difference of less than 300.00. I called my HMO. The caseworker said she could not discuss the case with me until after a settlement has been reached. But I don't want to agree to this settlement unless I know I can get a reduction. I called the insurance represinitive of the guy who hit me but I have not got a response. THis is thier second offer thier fist offer was 500.00 I sent the check back now I recive a release for 4,040.00 I don't think they are going to go any higher.
My question is :
Can I request that the insurance send a check with just my name on it and can I ask my HMO to reduce the price to 1,383.00 so I can have some money left over for my self.

You can ask but they don't have to give you any price reductions.

That is very greedy...... are you out to make money on your accident?
Your insurance company is paying your medical bills, I doubt that they are going to give you a discount just so that you can have some fun money.
