Question
What is the name of your state?KS
I was fired on May 29 and was given severance pay through july 30. My insurance policy was in effect until June 30. However, my premium was taken out of my paycheck for July too. Another employee told me that my boss was reimbursed by the insurance company for the premiums on that month. I'm sure this could be proved by calling the insurance company.
I haven't received this money and he isn't planning on giving it to me. He's an arrogant prick and facing embezzlement charges from his estranged business partner too. I also know of two other fired employees who he did this too. Is this larceny? Is this insurance fraud? This can't be legal practice even if its only over ~$250 in my case.
Do I have to sue the company in small claims? I'd love it if this was something law enforcement could get involved with. He'd look good in orange.
Answer
No, this is not something for which law enforcement will get involved. Sorry I can't feed your revenge fantasies.
It is, however, something for which you can sic the US DOL on him. Give them a call.
