Citi Simplicity, what was the last word?
Does anyone know what happened to the Citi Simplicity card line-up? I know there had been discussion in early 2006 maybe or even 2005 on FlyerTalk about this product, but it was never clear why it appears that Citi dropped this product and its three versions.
1. Do people still hold this card product from Citi or have they been migrated to something else?
2. Is this card in all forms completely not offered by Citi at all anymore in the USA?
Was it just a complete flop, too redundant with other card offerings or not in line with the Citi Card business plan? Any ideas welcome –especially insightful and informative ones.
Separately it appears from news reports Citi will be reducing it credit card business work force (the big job cut news)—namely back office functions but I would imagine telephone and email/written correspondence reps as well by either eliminating them or moving more than there are now to India.

I don't know if Simplicity is gone or not. It was on the Citi website until they revamped it approx 2 months ago (or so). The Simplicity products seemed to be redundant to the Citi Diamond Preferred and Dividend cards. I could never understand why Simplicity existed other than as a token "consumer-friendly" card offering.

My wife's parents have a Simplicity Mastercard. I see no indication they have been asked to migrate to another card, but in any event I would not expect this to happen until an anniversary date.

I am about to convert it anyway.
