The above thread, although useful is not at all pertinent to the OP...
OP, AFAIK the only CC that provides Elite status as a reward is the AMEX Delta Platinum. IIRC if you spend 25grand you get a 10,000MQM (which count towards Elite status on DLs program) bonus and a subsequent 10,000MQM upon reaching 50grand in spending. Also IIRC the bonus applies for charges occuring in calendar year 2007 regardless of when you sign up for the card. Not aware if CO have anything similar, but doubt it.

The CO card offers qualifying miles.

Also, any points that are transfered to AA count toward lifetime status. This includes Diners Club, Citi AA World MC and AMEX SPG.

Not CO, but the AF AmEx Gold gives qualifying miles on FB.

I am speaking about the same card that Mr. K mentioned. It is a CO card that offers qualifying miles:

I think that's about it...and it requires a pretty substantial spend to get qualifying miles.

Hi,
I will chime in that while I'm working to fly more on CO as a OnePass member, the only way to really earn "elite" status on any airline, if one's schedule will permit both personal and business travel, is to actually fly on the airline that you want to earn "elite" status on. I have the Presidential Plus Card, and to spend $25k on it annually to earn only 2,000 EQM is insane when I can spend that much in travel (flight and accommodations combined going places) and earn Gold Elite Status on CO, which is 50,000 EQM's which for me is heading back to corporate 6 times a year for a total of spending only about $1500 for airfare in all six instances.
As a rookie to the FF programs, this is the one thing I have learned through reading through all of the forums here on FT. I'm doing my darndest to get as much flight time as possible so I can earn "elite" status for far less than the "spend on CC" method as possible.

PS: For what it is worth, the Hartman tags are pretty flimsy and cheap.
Answer
actually fly on the airline
Well said ^ . I think the idea of the $25000:2000 EQM bonus is that they do not expire and you can redeem them in a year in which you fall short.
As a matter of interest, I received an invitation to apply for this card for a reduced annual fee ($100) because I have a lifetime Presidents Club membership, but I do not fly CO and am not interested.
