Well I just received notice from HSBC that the MC I have from them will start having a "Foreign Transaction Fee Finance Charge" of 3% of the total transaction. Looks like I'll be looking for a new credit card.

Why should you be surprised? HSBC USA is nothing more than Household and Orchard Bank put together. One of the worst credit card companies out there. Of course the others are Providian - Washington Mutual and Crap One.
