Question
I only mention it because I have only ever read of failed attempts on both here and on fatwallet. I have charged maybe four AA tickets on it plus the initial $1 to get the bonus miles. When I got transferred to "retention" the guy gave it up right away.
Very odd.
Answer
Same here. I intended to cancel the card after the first year fee free, but the retention specialist offered to waive my fee and also credit me with 5,000 Thank you points. I only charged a minimal amount to get the bonus points and the card remained unused for the remainder of the year.
Answer
I wonder if some of this has to do with the Dems calling all CC card companies up to the senate this week? Citi reportly said they'd get rid of Universal Default. Chase said they'd cap overlimit fees. Although I think Limit issues are really the only thing FTers really see.
Still, I wonder if the CSRs are on notice to be extra nice until things blow over.

That may be true, but I called to cancel last October.
