Question
Hi,
Just applied for and received approval for this card to be issued. It carries a $140 annual fee. Anybody know how good it is? Supposed to get 20k mileage points/credits towards my United Mileage account.
I currently have the CO Presidential Plus, Platinum Delta card and Platinum AMX, but wondered how well this card and its reward program work. I am planning on using it as my default "go to" card for business related matters.

Answer
I believe this card is only worth the money if you are going after EQMs. It should be easy to find chase UA card offering similar bonus miles and no annual fee the first year.
If you repost this in the UA forum you will probably get a lot of great info. This card has been discussed in great detail on flyertalk but unfortunantly it is difficult to search the forums.

The 20K mileage will be added to your account with in the first cycle. ANd the rewards are not bad. Depends how much you are using the card. The real advantage is that you get 2 points on united & also *A purchases (need to check with my recent USAirways ticket purchases) & some day to day things (i am yet to figure the list). EQMs after the first year are pretty much if you buy tickets from united. There are no other previledges like faster lanes or any thing. i think the best way to burn mileage esp for short flights seems to be 5000 miles = 75$ certificate. I read some where that addl 80 per year is worth it for this card (when compared to standard) if are interested in using this card as opposed to churning. I think it is pretty straight forward that it is a bad card if you are into churning. There is also business version if you are using it for business purposes. But if your business related matters donot include restaurants and flight tickets then you are getting the same 1% as the cheaper 60$ fee card (+ first year free!). Then it really does not add value. It is basically useful if you buy lots of UA/*A tickets. ANd i have no idea of the annual companion certificate i guess should be similar to your current delta free companion ticket.

I also have this card and, admittingly I'm a newbie, but I like the card because I don't fly all that much but the card seems to give me a decent amount of reward miles. This card offers 2 miles per every dollar on UA flights, gas at the pump, groceries, some dining, and a few more things. Most card offers that I saw (including the standard card, first year free) offer only 1 mile per dollar on those types of purchases.
The EQM's are also a really nice feature of the card and from what I understand, they are what attract most people to the card. Since I don't fly to much and pretty much have no hope of gaining states, the EQM's don't really matter to me.
Hope this helps.

I agree. This card has worked out quite well for me so far - I've earned about 22,000 miles (including 7500 EQM) by spending approx. $5,400 on UA purchases and through the Mileage Mall deals.
