Question
Costco is now offering a 5% rebate when you use the Costco AMEX to buy Costco gas. I didn't see if the little flier said there was any expiration to this offer.
Answer
They should provide something more than their base rate for ALL Costco purchases. Kind of odd that they offer bonuses for travel and dining but nothing for using it at their own store.
Answer
The rebate is offered by American Express, not by Costco. American Express doesn't need to offer much incentive for members to use their card at Costo because they have an exclusive arrangment, which probably also involves reduced transaction fees for Costco.
Answer
This should have been posted in the AX forum.
Answer
I respectively disagree. the title of the AX forum is American Express Membership Rewards, and this has nothing to do with MR.

It's a promo which ends at the end of March or April. :(
First I was excited when I saw the promo during last fill-up but it was a short promo...

I think that you do earn an AMEX rebate at Costco:
"With the TrueEarningsSM Card from Costco and American Express you can earn a full 3% cash back at any restaurant, even for takeout or delivery. You can also earn a full 2% cash back for traveling - on airline tickets, hotel stays, car rentals, and cruises - even when you book through travel agencies. And every other time you use the TrueEarnings Card you can earn 1% cash back, including at Costco."

jmorgans point was that the card should offer more than the base 1% on purchases at Costco.
Answer
I was considering the executive member 2% rebate the base rate at Costco, which makes the AMEX an additional 1%, as the AMEX card is optional. :)
Answer
You are correct this forum is overrun with AX related products threads and the AX Forum is varied in its content as well. So I guess it really does not matter until such time as they rewrite the forums so that it is neatened up a little bit. I would suggest AX with a sub forum for General, Membership Rewards and possible DL AX.
Then a thread for Visa & MasterCards with sub forums for Citibank, Bank of America and Other.
I don't know that any of this would ever be considered but those are my thoughts.

Answer
I never got a 5% notification, and the only provided info link was for a True Earnings BUSINESS Costco AMEX card. Is the same true for regular cards, or even regular "executive" membership cards/AMEXs?

I called Citi to cancel my AA Amex card and they offered me five miles for each purchase at gas stations, grocery stores and drug stores for six months. I accepted-this was a month or more ago-and was sad to see that they did not give me the bonus miles for Costco purchases. Wonder if I would get them at the Costco gas station?
Cap on this offer is 5K miles. But, as the agent told me, nothing keeps you from calling in a month or two and seeing what other offers have come along. :)

All (?) gas rebate cards excludes gas purchased at warehouse stores so you may not get 5 miles...
