Since many people seem to have strong feelings about MC vs. Visa vs. Amex, I'm wondering what the pros/cons of each are.

regarding BENEFITS.
visa signature has some benefits. rewards and fee vary by card.
saks world elite mastercard has some great benefits, but you have to spend at saks, and only get saks rewards.
merrill+ visa has great benefits and rewards and is free.
amex centurion offers a ton of great exclusive benefits, but you pay $2500 a year for them, and have to spend $250K/yr to get one.
citibank issued amex (all free currently) have entre now, which has some great benefits. rewards = thank you points.

Frankly, you should definitely have a Visa and/or Mastercard. If you travel internationally you should carry Visa AND Mastercard. AMEX is optional unless you shop at Costco. However, many of the AMEX cards have fantastic benefits and rewards.
Your choice of Visa, Mastercard, or AMEX depends on the benefits and rewards that interest you.

There are places that ONLY take Mastercard.
There are places that ONLY take American Express.
American Express has the best rewards.
Mastercard has the best Irish Car Rental coverage.

So do the benifits vary accross the visa signature line. I have a fee free BoA visa signature card and a UA one. Apart from the rewards do they have any different benifits like car rental, warranty etc?
