Question
i am a newbie when it come to thank you points program and i have a few questions so please bear with me.
1. From what i understand when you get thank you points they dont go directly to your FF program rather you can call and use them for any airline correct? also i have been looking for a chart detailing how many points it is from point A to B . specifcly i travel for pleasure from NYC to South East Asia, as well as Europe and the ME. how many points do i need?
2. Also it states that if i buy a ticket i get miles for thank you and on my peronsal FF. if i am using a reward ticket but use my CC to pay for the surchages (tax, fuel etc) will i get the miles from that trip?
3. is there a specific list of "merchants" where i get the 2:1 ratio?
4. from what i understand thank you points and Expedia have some type of close relationship. can anyone explain what that is and how it works? i read that there is something special about buying your tickets on expedia?
5. last question, how exactly does the companion ticket work. does this mean if i buy a 400usd ticket to Hawaii i can take a friend for free? do i need to buy the ticket through expedia or thank you or just any TA?
i thank everybody for their help and responess
Answer
These have all been answered in this forum before, but for posterity.
1) They go to your TY account.
For a chart, go to https://www.thankyounetwork.com/faq.jspx and click Travel rewards and look at #4.
2) Yes, as long as the airline reports your ticket information to Citi.
3) I believe you have to have TY Network account to log in and see the stores. Many are 4-6 points/$.
4) Expedia will give you TY points for some random purchases, mostly packages. Individual flights don't apply.

5) It's usually a much more expensive ticket. You have to buy through Citi's travel agent.
Try looking through the extensive existing threads on the PremierPass, there's more information than you could ever need.

One additional question. I've read the T&C for TYN on Expedia and I can't find anything that says you get more TYN points for using Expedia that you would for just booking through an airlines or hotel or other web site. Is that the case? If so, why would one bother with Expedia to do a booking?
Answer
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion when it very clearly says:
Earn one ThankYou Point for every dollar spent directly on the following travel items booked through Expedia.com (not including taxes, tax-recovery charges or fees):
* Hotels
* Flight + hotel on the same itinerary
* Cruises
* Vacation packages (i.e., flight, hotel, and/or car packages booked via the "vacation package" tab on the Expedia.com site; however, please note that flight + rental car does not qualify as a vacation package)
* Activities and services totaling at least $50
* Flight + activities and services totaling at least $50 on the same itinerary
This is in addition to whatever points you earn from the credit card you use. Note that you don't get anything for just booking a flight though.
